Organizations are where you find a lot of the people that enjoy doing the same things as you do-- that have the same interests. And that just makes it a lot easier to find your people. We've got a lot of sports. So there's like rowing and club hockey, and lacrosse, and volleyball. But then we also have very specific orgs. So we have a lot of like music groups-- like an Africans music group, a Spanish music Group, dance groups, as well.
And then we have a bunch of STEM groups, and people who are interested in health sciences. So you have a wide range of like really fun clubs, but then also more serious clubs that will get you involved with internships and volunteer opportunities. The Mac Weekly is the student newspaper on campus. It's a really welcoming environment. They cover a lot of things from news, which is the section I write for-- to food and drink, to arts to sports. And anyone can come write, there are people that spend hours on it, and our editors. And there's people that just write when they feel like it, and it gets you really involved in the campus community too, because you're talking to people and writing about it-- and it's very exciting.
We have a couple org fairs throughout the year that everyone is there to advertise. And you can kind of come up and put your email down if you're interested-- if you're not, just kind of feeling everything out. And then you get all that information and you can kind of compile a list of what you do and want to do, and then kind of pick from there. If you have an idea for an organization that isn't present already in the Mac community. You can also just go start one. If you're looking for a place with a lot of opportunities to get involved in the things that you love and make you passionate, Macalester is the perfect place to go.
