I think one of the things that make Macalester really unique amongst even small liberal arts colleges is that we really live the values that we espouse. In our mission statement, you'll see that we talk about not only diversity, inclusion, but also equity and social justice. And what our students will see when they come here is that they'll experience across the entire community.
So whether it's our faculty who are doing research and scholarship around really sort of big pressing issues, ending racism, thinking about ethnic studies in K-12 schools, or addressing world hunger, they'll be able to take classes to explore those issues with some of the leading experts, not only in the country, but also in the world.
And we also have two student-facing units in the Division of Institutional Equity, the Laietana Suzuki Center for Social Justice, and the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, that really do identity-based work, and also provide advocacy support and programming for students of marginalized identities.
I think students will find again, we live what we say we do not pretend to be perfect. And that's, I think, in many ways, what makes us different and what will make your experience different as well. We value our students' contributions as leaders and experts. We invite them into conversations with us to guide and lead our student organizations and identity collectives. And to really be vocal about what they need, and also come to us for support and help when they need it.
