The Twin Cities have a lot to offer. I think many people already know that they have great sports teams here great music venues. But I also was surprised by all the great niche communities that exist here. And one thing I want to tell to incoming students is that no matter who you are, you will find a place to be here in the Twin Cities, you will find your community and you will find great things to do.
There's a lot of stuff going on outside of campus. For example, I've been able to find some really cool comedy clubs. I've been to all sorts of concert venues. One of my favorite hobbies is dancing. I found dance studio where they do free sessions on Fridays.
There are a lot of great restaurants that you can go to. For me, I like going to My Burger, Tono's, Nashville Coop. There's also Whole Foods up the street with a hot food bar that you can go to with friends. That's pretty nice, too. And another great part about Macalester is that we're right between St. Paul and Minneapolis.
Macalester is located in a very walkable neighborhood right on to kind of big bus lines. Here at Macalester we get free bus passes that we can use on any of the city buses or metros but we're also 15 minutes away from a major international airport which is really nice when it comes to flying home for breaks.
The nature in Minnesota is amazing. That's one of the best things about it. One of my favorite activities when I was a first-year was the river we would go down on a walk all the way down to the river where there's a forest so you can do like a hike between all the fall leaves.
Coming to Macalester means that I've had a life on-campus as much as I've had a life off-campus. So it's not all about just being here. There's stuff to do outside as well.
